About the Wright brothers The two brothers were two of seven children in the Wright family. Wilbur was born 4 years before Orville was born. At a young age, their father (a bishop) brought home a toy helicopter. The boys played and played with it for years, until broke and they built their own . This was the first influence that sparked the boys interest in flight. The Wright brother never received a high school diploma, they always seemed to be into other activities. Then a few years later the Wright brothers opened a bicycle repair shop. Originally, the brothers never had planned to fly but, this bicycle shop became the funds to build the aircraft.

Background research
Flight before the Wright brothers, had only been attempted a little. Most pilots thought that in an aircraft the pilots did nothing but steer the aircraft. Then with the invention of the Wright brothers glider, they showed that the pilot had to lean to either side of the aircraft to make the glider go in the direction that was wanted . Felix du temple de Croix was a french naval officer that got the permission to build a plane in 1857. He was credited in 1874 for the first powered flight. He also flew 29 years before the Wright brothers. Another, famous inventor of flight was Alexander Mozhaysky, He also was a naval officer like Felix, but instead of using an engine powered machine he used a ramp technique, where it would grant speed and lift. He also was a critical person of history because he made the angles on wings that we use today. Jean Francois Pilatre Rozier was a pioneer for aviation with his extensive experimentation with hot air balloons. He and his companion were some of the first people to die due to an air related crash. As you can see the Wright brothers weren't the first to experiment with flight but they were the the first successful people to fly a plane.
